CPCS Dozer A34

The CPCS Dozer (A34) course is designed for individuals who operate, or intend to operate, a dozer on construction and earthmoving sites. This course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to operate a dozer safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations.

Course Overview

This course delivers detailed training on the safe use of dozers, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and hands-on operation. Participants will learn how to carry out a range of tasks such as bulk excavation, grading, and material movement, while understanding the importance of ground conditions, safety precautions, and machine capabilities. Training aligns with current health and safety legislation and CPCS standards.

What the Course Covers

  • Pre-use checks and basic maintenance procedures
  • Understanding the controls and functions of the dozer
  • Blade types and uses, including straight, angle, and U-blades
  • Ground levelling, backfilling, and spreading operations
  • Working on inclines, slopes, and rough terrain
  • Identification and avoidance of underground and overhead hazards
  • Interpreting site plans and setting out work
  • Safe travelling techniques, including loading and unloading
  • Machine stability, visibility, and safety awareness
  • End-of-shift procedures and shutdown protocols

Course Duration

Certification

On successful completion, candidates will receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (A34 – Dozer). This can be upgraded to the Blue Competent Operator Card by completing the relevant NVQ and gaining sufficient on-site experience.

This course is ideal for those involved in construction, groundwork, and earthmoving projects, ensuring safe and competent dozer operation in line with industry expectations.
